Movie Review: Avengers Infinity War

**Spoilers (but not about what happens to certain people)** I t has been 10 years in the making of this wonderful masterpiece that is Avengers: Infinity War . When Iron Man came out I was only the young age of 10 and now I’m 20. The Marvel Comic Universe (MCU) has been a part of half of my life. They are part of the reason why I love movies so much; even for me not being a huge comic book nerd. So, you can imagine the excitement going through my entire body walking in to see this movie opening weekend on Sunday. To sum it all up; Thanos wants the six infinity stones (time, reality, soul, mind, space, power) and he will do everything humanly/alien species way possible to get them. He believes that the universe needs help and to save the it he must kill half of the species who live within it. Stupid right? To think, if he has all these different stones couldn’t he make more food or make everyone be equal. Just something where people don’t have to DIE! But besides the ...

Movie Review: I Feel Pretty

I don’t tend to hate on a lot of movies, because I always seem to enjoy any movie I watch in some way. However, this one was a bummer. I enjoy Amy Schumer as a person and her other movie Trainwreck was hilarious to me, but I Feel Pretty just didn’t go well. A short summary of the movie would be about a not skinny, but not fat woman gets knocked out falling of a bike at soul cycle. Then after waking up her confidence gets boosted and she believes she is drop dead gorgeous. She can apply to the job she wanted and ask some guy out. The ending message is your beautiful no matter what size you are or how you look. Though the message was plan and simple it was hard to understand that coming from Amy Schumer. Schumer is not skinny, but she is not fat either. She’s also not what you would call ugly. So, I don’t get how they were trying to portray her as that. However, besides the iffy message being told this movie was supposed to be a comedy. Walking into the movie, mos...

Movie Review: Thor Ragnarok

I love comic book movies, especially superhero movies. Thor: Ragnarok is downright one of my favorite Marvel superheros. This movie was obviously the best in the franchise and gave a new feel to the superhero genre. I enjoyed the 80s twist on the movie. Though I am getting tired of television and movie always using the 80s.  there are other decades out there. Though the little sequence where Thor is getting a welcome wagon to the new planet with the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory music playing was a great touch. However, let me tell that I have never laughed so much at a Marvel movie in my life. Hands down my favorite character was Korg with his many one liners. Usually when Marvel adds in jokes they’re funny but the usual style. This felt more like a comedy with a superhero in it than a superhero movie with comedic lines throughout it. Coming out of this movie I feel as if it was more on Thor as a hero and a leader of Asgard, than as another puzzle ...

Movie Review: Lady Bird

Though not a teenager anymore, I still enjoy my coming of age movies based in high school. Lady Bird is about a girl in her senior year of high school dealing with teenage problems and an annoying mother. Who as usual does not understand her daughter at all. But instead of making the mother too over the top like in other movies, this film allows you to understand where she is coming from and feel sympathy at certain points for her. I would like to say congratulations to Greta Gerwig for being nominated for an academy award for her amazing work. Saoirse Ronan was amazing as usual, she is a favorite actor of mine. Her portrayal of Lady Bird was on point and I had many instances where I related to her. Also, can I just say that it angers me how people with strong accents can talk in an incredible American accent while us Americans suck at doing any other accent besides our own. But back to Saoirse. There were moments when I was like come on, use your common sense. That o...

Movie Review: The Shape Of Water

I was finally able to get to watching some of the Oscar nominated movies of 2018. The first one I got to watch was The Shape of Water which to me was just a lovely story set in 1962 Baltimore, following a mute custodian at a high-security government laboratory who befriends a captured humanoid-amphibian creature. It gave me The Little Mermaid vibes and Ariel is my favorite Disney princess. Except in this case the girl is human and becomes a sea creature instead of the other way around. I enjoyed this movie use of a mute person, which allowed you to see the physical chemistry between the animal and Elisa. But I will mention that the scene where they have sex kind of creeps me out. Though anyone should be able to be with who they want to be, it still grossed me out. Also, why did Elisa assume a towel by the door was going to stop water from coming out of the bathroom???? My favorite aspect of this movie though was the soundtrack/score. Though most of was in French, so I ...

Movie Review: Happy Death Day

I am not big into horror movies and some may say that Happy Death Day is not really one, it is more like suspense. However, I enjoyed watching this movie. What is so incredible about this film is that it had a low budget and an amazing piece of work came out of that. I also recently found out that this movie was made by the same person, Jason Blum, who did Get Out and Split and I love those two. I was watching Screen Junkies on YouTube and they said something I totally agreed with. That is if you get a good director/producer on the film, a good story, and not a big budget then there is a better chance the film is going to be good or even one of the best films of the year. When you give people a bunch of money they just waste it on the top actors and actresses of Hollywood and on special effects that take away from what the film is about. The only question I had that kept running through my head was why Tree (main character) got the chance to find out who killed her repe...

Stranger Things: Season 2

In about 2 days I watched  the second season of Netflix's Stranger Things . Let me just tell you that it was very satisfying. It might not have been as creepy or as scary as the first season, but it still incorporated everything people loved about season 1.  First thing first, I love the fact that we got to finally see Lucas’s family and his sister was one of the highlights of this season. She was hilarious and deserved more screen time. But back to Lucas. He was also given a new love interest, Max, who he had to fight for her attention with Dustin. I enjoyed Max and thought she was a great addition to the group, though everyone else besides Lucas was rude to her and she should not have had to deal with that. But it was funny seeing Eleven get jealous of her. Drama is the best. But when it comes to her stepbrother I want to punch him in the face several times. If his only reason for not like Lucas is because of his skin color, then I’m just aggravated with him and w...
