I love comic book movies, especially superhero movies. Thor: Ragnarok is downright one of my favorite
Marvel superheros. This movie was obviously the best in the franchise and gave
a new feel to the superhero genre.
I enjoyed the 80s twist on the movie. Though I am getting
tired of television and movie always using the 80s. there are other decades out there. Though the
little sequence where Thor is getting a welcome wagon to the new planet with the
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
music playing was a great touch.
However, let me tell that I have never laughed so much at
a Marvel movie in my life. Hands down my favorite character was Korg with his many
one liners. Usually when Marvel adds in jokes they’re funny but the usual style. This felt more like a comedy with a superhero in it than a superhero movie
with comedic lines throughout it.
Coming out of this movie I feel as if it was more on Thor
as a hero and a leader of Asgard, than as another puzzle piece to the Avengers
conclusion. Thor must step up to the plate as the new ruler of Asgard and he
has to figure his powers. To learn that his hammer is not what yields his power,
but his power comes from within him.
There was a hint in the beginning of the movie that
reminded me of Kung Fu Panda. Where Master
Oogway basically passes away and leaves Master Shifu and Po to deal with ty
lung. Which is like Odin leaving Thor and Loki to deal with Hela without a care
in the world.
Hela, was a sucky villain. I feel as if she was there just
as a topping to make the movie a real superhero movie. Because what’s a hero
without somebody to fight with. That’s why she was so easily defeated in the end.
The addition of Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, in this film
was an amazing bonus. It gave the audience and fans of the franchise to see the
Hulk and Thor relationship as a team, without pulling the focus of the
movie away from Thor. Also, I feel it wouldn’t have been necessary for Marvel/Disney
to create a movie primarily for Hulk anyway. That small Doctor
Strange interaction was good. It adds some well needed chemistry that the heroes
are going to need going into Avengers:
Infinity War.
Just to slip something in there as well was when Scrapper
142 (Valkyrie) took Thor captive and put him trapped in the small space on his
ship reminded me of another Disney movie called Lilo & Stitch. It was when Gantu had Lilo at the end of the
movie trapped in his ship. And let's not forget that little cameo in the beginning by Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth, I thought I was tripping out for a second then.
I still don’t trust Loki and I think no one ever will. Him
and Thor’s relationship were the same as usual. Both bickering with each other
and going against each others back.
I hope that Thor doesn’t die in Avengers: Infinity War, because I will be extremely upset and may
throw a tantrum. Marvel/Disney should
make another movie like this, but please stop with the 80s.
I LOVE THOR!!!
